Flakiness and Thickness Gauge

Flakiness Gauge is used to determine if the aggregate particles are to be considered as flaky, i.e. their thickness is less than 0.6 of their nominal size. Length Gauge classifies aggregate elongation by measuring the length of individual particles. Aggregate particles are considered elongated when their length is more than 1.8 of their nominal size. Length Gauge test is not applicable to material retained on 63.0 mm BS test sieves

The Flakiness and Thickness Gauge set includes the following models, both made of stainless steel. The Flakiness Gauge (AG 0103) is used to determine if aggregate particles are flaky (thickness less than 0.6 of nominal size). The Length Gauge (AG 0104) classifies aggregate elongation by measuring particle length (elongated when length is more than 1.8 of nominal size); the Length Gauge test is not applicable to material retained on a 63.0 mm BS test sieve. The set complies with BS 812-105.1.
